OUR HISTORY
In the spring of 1954, seeing the need for a second congregation in Boaz, fourteen active families of the Broad Steet Church of Christ left to establish a new congregation. This group consisting of around forty people met in the home of Mr. and Mrs. T.E. Dale until a building could be constructed. Mr. Newt Parker gave the group a 75' X 150' plot of land on Highway 431 to be used for this purpose. By June of 1954, the members, doing most of the work themselves, completed a 32' X 76' brick-siding frame building consisting of an auditorium and two classrooms.
Jack Lowhon served the church as the first minister. Ronnie Johnson, Bobby Duncan, and William Hunt followed him. All of these ministers served on a part-time basis in that they were either attending school or held other jobs.
In 1957, a baptistry and four classrooms were added to the building. The attendance had increased and Tim Black was employed as minister. He served the congregation until 1968 when John Medders was hired as the first full-time preacher. Later additional lots were purchased adjacent to the church property making a plot of 300' X 320'.
The next year, a three-bedroom frame house was purchased on Highway 431 to be used for the preacher's house. A.G. Tines was hired to replace Brother Medders and was the first to occupy the new home.
In September of 1971, an $80,000 expansion program was initiated. The old auditorium was turned into eight classrooms; a new 235 seat capacity auditorium, two restrooms, a nursery, and a preacher's study were constructed. Both the old and the new structures were completed and the congregation moved into the new building in July of 1972.
H.C. Lenderman served as minister from November 1972 to July 1980. In 1973, the entire parking lot was paved, therefore completing the planned expansion program.
In November 1976, W.M. Abercrombie and Glen Hutchenson were appointed to serve as the first elders of Crestview. In December 1976, six deacons were appointed: S.G. Grimes, J.C. Propes, J.O. Fielder, W.K. Hammond, N.W. Edmondson, and Louie Walker. In September 1978, M.A. Barham was appointed to the eldership. Charles Black and Richard Gilbert were appointed as deacons in February 1982. In May 1987, Paul Bishop and Harold Brasher were appointed as deacons and Richard Gilbert was appointed to serve as an elder.
John P. Gibbons served as the next minister from August 1980 to July 1987. Jerri Manasco began serving as minister in August 1987, and currently serves as our minister today.
The preacher's house on Highway 431 was sold and in 1987 the Billy Jack Parker house, located directly behind the church on Highland Avenue, was purchased to serve as a preacher's home. The Parker house served as a home for the minister from 1987 to 1988. It then served as a fellowhship hall for church activities from October 1988 until March 1997, when the educational wing of the church building was remodeled and a fellowship hall was completed. In April of 1997 the house became an off campus foster home the Childhaven Children's Home.

Several good works are supported by the church: House to House/Heart to Heart, a week-day as well as a Sunday morning radio program, and numerous mission efforts.
We will never cease to plan and to work as long as time permits it!
